Kara DioGuardi
American Idol is dramatic enough, but put another woman judge on the show to take time from diva Paula Abdul, and the fireworks may explode. The producers are taking that chance.

A new judge, Kara DioGuardi, has been announced by the show. She will begin immediately and should create quite a contrast to the almost unbearably upbeat Abdul.

DioGuardi insists that she will not be as mushy as Abdul, and that she will speak her mind if the performance calls for such. "I'm just somebody who's really honest and gives my opinion. If I feel the need to be hard with someone in order to get that across, I will. And if I need
to be softer and more nurturing with the contestants, I'll do that. It all depends on the situation," said DioGuardi.

It is the last part that might create conflict with Abdul. There is only room for one pick me up judge on the show, and Abdul already has that part covered. In fact6, nobody has been more nauseating in their approval rating of the contestants than Abdul.

Still, Abdul insists there will be no bad blood between the two, although she did worry about how the fans would react to the new judge. "I am concerned about the audience and acceptance. Time will tell. We'll see," said Abdul in an interview with Phoenix's 104.7 KISS FM's Johnjay & Rich radio show.
