38-1 Long Shot Da'Tara wins The Belmont Stakes

Triple Crown Winner Big Brown began his journey chasing down history over a month ago at the Kentucky Derby. He pulled away from the rest of the field that day, and started people thinking that he could be the next great horse.
Three weeks ago at the Preakness, Big Brown was favored to win the race. Not only did he win the race, but he again made it look easy, leading people to jump on the bandwagon.
Now, with history staring him in the face, Big Brown could not rise to the challenge. He was not flawless this afternoon and it cost him. The win would have earned
Had he won the triple crown, Big Brown would have become only the second horse in history to accomplish the feat while undefeated. He also had the chance to be the first horse in three decades to win the triple crown.
He has done everything that has been asked of a champion horse, and although he did not win, he will still be considered a great champion.
The winner of the race was Da'Tara, a 38-1 long shot. He led wire to wire, and was helped by the fact that Big Brown did not have his best.
