Tiger Woods finished runner up at the Masters last weekend. He did not use any excuses for not winning, but the announcement of Woods having surgery might shed light on his performance during the tournament.

Woods Loses Masters, Has Surgery On Left Knee
Tiger Woods is not one to make excuses. When he is bad on a golf course, he usually will say as much. This past weekend Woods finished second at the Masters.

Two days after the tournament ended, Woods had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee. The knee has been hurting Woods for some time, but he has tried to play through the pain.

After his performance at the Masters, Woods decided to have the surgery that will now keep him off the golf course for a month. Tiger played well enough to finish second at the Masters, something most people would be happy with, but not Woods.

"He's been having a lot of trouble. He doesn't talk about stuff like that. He doesn't want to use excuses, you know? I don't think it affected his play. It affected his practice a little bit. He hit fourteen greens in regulation on Sunday. Hard to say it was the knee," said Hank Haney, Woods' swing coach, in a phone interview with the AP.

Woods spoke about his surgery and upcoming rehabilitation, saying, "I made the decision to deal with the pain and schedule the surgery for after the Masters. The upside is that I have been through this process before and know how to handle it. I look forward to working through the rehabilitation process and getting back to action as quickly as I can".
